Summary

The sourcing and vendor management (SVM) landscape is a complex one, with a variety of terms that are often used without a shared understanding. As a result, SVM teams and stakeholders may be saying the same things but may, in fact, be thinking very differently. To avoid this kind of unintentional misalignment, SVM teams can use this document to standardize understanding of common sourcing and vendor management terms across their organizations. SVM executives will find it useful as a tool to educate new stakeholders or team members, or to refresh alignment among long-standing ones. This update includes new terms that clients have asked Forrester to define.
