An effective standards program provides an important foundation for any enterprise architecture (EA) program. Both new and well-established programs will want to get and keep their standards house in order to free resources for more strategic concerns. But simply establishing and enforcing standards is not enough — modern enterprises need approaches to standards that promote flexibility and innovation. Enterprise architects must adapt their programs to meet the organization's specific needs.
