Summary

In Forrester's 121-criteria evaluation of integrated service-oriented architecture (SOA) governance vendors, we found that Software AG, Progress Software (Progress), IBM, and SOA Software lead the pack. Software AG's strong strategy and SOA service life-cycle management (SLM) are boosted by its relationships with Layer 7 Technologies (for gateway) and Progress Software (for SOA management). Strategy and SOA management are Progress' great strengths. IBM has a strong strategy, a leading gateway, and good solutions for SOA SLM and SOA management. SOA Software is the strongest in overall functionality, particularly for SOA SLM. Among the Strong Performers, Oracle gains particular strength in its gateway through its OEM relationship with Vordel. WSO2 has good solutions, and some buyers will be especially interested in its open source foundation. Tibco Software's (Tibco's) strongest element is SOA SLM, which it OEMs from HP.
