Summary

How are businesses in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region adopting technologies in the software, hardware, networks, and services categories, and what do they plan to do with IT budgets in the next 12 months? This document gives highlights of data collected from 777 enterprises across the Asia Pacific region via Forrester's Enterprise Technology Adoption Survey, Asia Pacific, Q4 2007. The double-digit growth in the Indian and Chinese economies is welcome news for vendors who see slackness in the US and European markets. While China outstrips all regions for new investment in software, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) have the most aggressive plans for data center hardware upgrades. But companies selling to the region in general — and China in particular — should anticipate that today's buyers will eventually wake up to their irrational exuberance about every new technology. Smart vendors will coach their APAC customers to use IT demand management methodologies and ROI models to drive and measure benefits from their IT investments.
