Summary

This Forrester case study offers infrastructure and operations (I&O) leaders and teams an example of how to improve the effectiveness of their service management and automation (SMA) initiatives through DevOps and release automation. This is important, because most IT organizations are built around competency silos with the common goal of supporting the business. These divisions born from the complexity of IT environments, however, are the most acute when it comes to the chasm between development and operations. Unfortunately, the lack of cooperation between these two groups and the inherent latency of manual testing and release management processes nullifies the benefits from agile development methodologies, such as Scrum. In this report, we show how City Index analyzed this issue and adopted release management automation to streamline the life-cycle process and accelerate the time-to-market of critical applications and changes.
