Springboard Research notes rapid, rising interest in software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud-related offerings - despite the impending and inevitable fatigue from over-hype. As distinct from managed services, cloud-based offerings provide substantial mass-scale delivery and commodity-styled cost benefits. The delivery and management of enterprise email is therefore a prime candidate for further cloud-based adoption. We expect to see an ever-widening gap between those who choose on-premises and off-premises enterprise email solutions. This will be based on only a few key factors - though logic may not necessarily always apply.
