Summary

Experience design (XD) providers continue to succeed in providing expert design services like visualization and qualitative and quantitative research despite — and sometimes because of — changes caused by the pandemic. Compared to three years ago, XD providers are now hired by clients reporting into many different parts of the organization. They’re also being asked to do more strategic work like business model development as well as more employee-facing design. Increased project complexity has also increased the total cost of hiring them for projects but not necessarily the cost per hour.
