Summary

Paraphrasing Winston Churchill, committees are like democracy — the "worst form of government except for all those others." However, an enterprise IT executive committee is critical to making IT decisions that span the entire company. Consisting of the most senior business leaders, including the CIO, they provide oversight, prioritization, and direction for enterprisewide IT projects and services. When operating well, the executive committee members react to alternatives presented to them. When operating poorly, they become buried in detailed problem solving or dissolve from lack of interest.
