Relationships are at the center of clinical care, but the US healthcare system promotes transactional engagements between providers and patients. For relationships and social connections within health systems to flourish, healthcare organizations must design for empathy, care for the medical family, create space for clinicians to be vulnerable, and improve clinician trust. This report helps healthcare leaders promote connectedness to cultivate a restorative and reparative culture, mitigate burnout, and enhance provider well-being.
