Hydrasight predicts that 2009 will see a slow increase in the enterprise adoption of videoconferencing and so-called "telepresence" in response to often-misguided beliefs about the cost savings and environmental benefits. However, we believe organizations will typically spend significantly more on these incarnations of traditional videoconferencing, despite the absence of any greater measures of success or rewards. As a result, we believe 2009 will see many organizations make substantial over-investments in video-based collaborative technologies.
