According to Forrester’s Consumer Benchmark Survey, 2022, 49% of US online adults look for energy-efficient labels when purchasing products and 37% report that their concern for climate change affects their purchase decisions. Brands should prominently display environmental sustainability practices (including those that contribute to overall environment, social, and governance [ESG] practices) on their direct-to-consumer websites and highlight which products are (truly) sustainable. On websites, allow consumers to filter search results by attributes such as energy efficiency ratings or green materials. This data snapshot highlights the importance of environmental sustainability to US shoppers.
