India Embarks On An Ambitious Government Cloud Journey

In the first quarter of 2014, the federal government of India expects to start the trial run of its Meghraj government cloud (g-cloud), which will offer infrastructure, platform, software, and storage as a service in a private cloud model. Forrester believes that India's g-cloud holds significant potential for the central government to increase its agility, efficiency, and collaboration. However, to make the g-cloud initiative a success, India will need to focus more on integrating applications and standardizing and optimizing its technology infrastructure. This report reflects Forrester's views of India's g-cloud initiative and provides guidance to the Indian government and the infrastructure and operations professionals who work with it on how to get the most from the g-cloud.
