At home and at work, people overwhelmingly use Microsoft Office. Yet content and collaboration (C&C) pros continue to ask Forrester questions about office alternatives. So we recently surveyed 150 IT decision-makers with influence over productivity tool kits and interviewed vendors in the market to find out who is buying, and how companies are provisioning, office alternatives. We found that while overall adoption is still low, office alternatives are finding some traction in large enterprises as complementary tools and as replacements for specific segments. This report provides an update on the major activity around web-based platforms for office productivity and how the vendors are positioned against Microsoft.
