Financial services firms often look to help customers strengthen their financial literacy. Some even make this central to their value proposition. But our research shows that for many consumers there is a fundamental disconnect between their perceived and actual literacy when it comes to a key factor: credit scores. To illustrate the gap, our research looks at two variables: US online adults’ confidence that they understand credit scores, and their actual comprehension of how credit scores are calculated.
