Summary

Building and implementing a BT strategy requires specific skills, roles, incentives, and structures to be in place. It also needs a sourcing strategy to bring in third-party capabilities. Furthermore, the IT organization needs the capacity in terms of the number of people in these key positions, both to help create the plan and implement the changes required by the plan. Many organizations lack some of the key skills, particularly in areas of business knowledge and architecture.
