Summary
Following the recent successful integration of its latest acquisitions, Oracle is ramping up its marketing messages around cloud enabling enterprise data centres via what it is positioning as an "optimized, fully integrated hardware and software stack." Evolving from its previous position of completely denying that cloud computing even existed, Oracle now proudly claims/boasts to have the best private cloud technologies available in the market. While Oracle certainly offers value in the data center, its approach is far from truly enabling private clouds. More to the point, Springboard Research believes that Oracle continues to offer "more of the same:" large capital purchases, over-provisioned capacity . . . and a perpetual payment plan called "support and maintenance."
