Cognitive and physical automation are increasingly complementary, and the manufacturing sector is starting to adopt them. The adoption of cognitive automation (e.g., RPA, voice assistance) ranges from 14% to 19% — slightly higher than the adoption of physical automation technologies (e.g., industrial robots), which falls between 12% and 16%. Manufacturers will benefit from implementation strategies that combine the two classes of automation alongside careful consideration of their implications for the employee experience.
