Physical And Cognitive Automation Grow In Manufacturing

Automation is changing fast, with important ripple effects in other industries and sectors. Cognitive and physical automation are increasingly complementary, and the manufacturing sector is starting to adopt them. The adoption of cognitive automation (e.g., RPA, voice assistance) ranges from 14% to 19% — slightly higher than the adoption of physical automation technologies (e.g., industrial robots), which falls between 12% and 16%. Manufacturers will benefit from implementation strategies that combine the two classes of automation alongside careful consideration of their implications for the employee experience.
