Jan 07, 2013

Summary

In the first half of 2012, PC shipments have dropped year-over-year as many consumers and employees find the object of their desire to be a tablet or a Mac. In addition, with virtual desktops on the radar for 24% of organizations, more and more employees can use their personally owned Macs and other computing devices for work. The result? The company-owned PC is becoming less and less the norm. In the face of expanding heterogeneity and virtualization, I&O professionals must answer: "How much more do we invest in managing the Windows PC as we know it with on-premises tools?" and "Should we switch from our current client management tool?" In this product spotlight, Forrester examines the advantages and disadvantages of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 to help I&O pros determine if the product is right for them.
