Amidst a panoply of potential threats, including insourcing pressures, rising costs, the growing threat of domestic US-based alternatives, and the potential impact of immigration reform, India-based applications outsourcing (AO) suppliers retain the high ground in the market for applications outsourcing in North America (alternatively EMEA). Although North America remains the epicenter of demand, and India remains the principal source of supply, the importance of Europe is growing both in terms of demand and supply. The nature of AO services, meanwhile, is evolving, with a growing concentration on business outcomes. Sourcing and vendor management professionals place new urgency on selecting appropriate applications outsourcing partners, as success with applications outsourcing must translate to business results as well as progress in transitioning to the new digital enterprise.
