The growing availability of cloud-based on-demand streaming services has led many to wonder whether people will continue to own and augment music collections. The timelier issue, however, is how device makers and service providers can incorporate access and a seamless experience with existing digital music collections, given that the majority of US online adults have them — and even though most of these collections have fewer than 500 songs. Product strategists should build music products that help consumers overcome the challenges that they face with their digital music collections.
