Summary

Email has emerged as one of the leading enterprise applications for cloud computing over the last 12-18 months. Both Microsoft and Google have become the dominant enterprise players with VMware (Zimbra) a significant way behind. However, organisations that are looking to invest in cloud-based email solutions are not evaluating these vendors on the richness of their email features or functionality. In fact, in many cases, a key benefit is in reducing the number of email-related features available to users to increase productivity. At its most extreme, cloud-based email is proving to be a stepping stone to the deployment of a new model of collaboration and user engagement.
