India Datacenter Study: Virtualization, Consolidation, And Data De-Duplication

This document provides vendor strategists with an overview of the results from the survey on the India Datacenter market dynamics based on 102 interviews with Indian CIOs and top IT executives of large and medium enterprises and public organizations employing more than 500 people conducted between May and July 2010. The findings suggest that consolidation of mission critical servers forms the most preferred choice among the enterprises that have either undertaken server consolidation or are planning to do so for their data centers. The document provides the data on average percentage of physical servers running in virtualized environments, the average ratio of server to virtual host, and the reasons for undertaking server virtualization. Also the document highlights the reasons for and types of data de-duplication implementations. The report provides the numbers for the average spending on IT as a proportion of total revenues in 2010 and forecasts the growth for 2011.
