Despite a fast approaching upgrade cycle, transition to new technologies like service-oriented architecture (SOA), globalization, and a slew of high-priority projects on the docket for 2008, more proactive, long-term packaged applications strategies continue to take a back seat on most agendas. Business process and apps professionals must break out of their firefighting rut and focus on building a sustainable packaged app strategy — or fall prey to expensive rework, lost opportunities, and organizational fatigue.
