Summary

Forrester expects US holiday season online retail sales to grow 16% year over year. Consumers are showing a willingness to spend this season, with affluent consumers driving the most growth. Almost universally, US online retailers expect their holiday sales to increase from 2009, showing industrywide optimism. But, they are not relying on mere excitement; retailers are planning aggressive promotions throughout the holiday season, particularly around the key dates of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
