Consumer Technologies Will Continue To Pervade Enterprise IT. Embrace, Don't Ignore.

Summary

IT leaders have long fought a losing battle trying to mandate specific technologies that IT departments would support. However, users continue to expect their personal preferences in consumer-oriented technologies to be supported as a means to enhance and augment their traditional work environment. Organizations that still believe they can hold out must not only see the writing on the wall but should go further and "embrace" the consumerism of IT. These organizations will be better served by (finally) creating road maps, frameworks, and guidelines - as well as upgrading infrastructure - to cope with the inevitable.
