Just over half of US online adults agree they’d like self-checkout available in more store formats, according to Forrester’s May 2025 Consumer Pulse Survey. Younger US online adults are most likely to prefer self-checkouts, and they are more likely to want to see them across more store types. Around two-thirds of US online adults who are Millennials or Gen Z would like to see self-checkout in more store formats. This data snapshot examines US online adults’ attitudes toward self-checkout.
