Using The Forrester Competitive Assessment Tool

January 1st, 2018

Summary

Forrester has isolated two key criteria for evaluating a competitor’s threat level: disruptive capability and go-to-market capability. Our competitive analysis model guides organizations through a standardized process for categorizing competitors based on these criteria. A key step in this process is to use the interactive Forrester Competitive Assessment Tool to gather the information and assess each competitor.

The Forrester Competitive Analysis Model evaluates competitors’ threat levels based on two key criteria — disruptive ability and go-to-market capability — and places them in one of four quadrants: vulnerable, emerging, entrenched and lethal (see Introducing The Forrester Competitive Analysis Model). To conduct this evaluation, however, organizations must first gather sufficient information about their competitors. In this report, we introduce the interactive Forrester Competitive Assessment Tool, which includes four lenses for gathering the information needed to assess the threat posed by each competitor.
