Summary
Despite the proliferation of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) across enterprises and the cloud, some infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals still treat configuration management as a manual exercise. In an age when I&O is dealing with hundreds, if not thousands, of systems, this is no longer feasible — the time has come to automate. In this report, we highlight multiple vendors that are addressing this challenge through open source and commercial tools and show how these vendors fit into the larger narrative of change management and development/operations (DevOps).
