Dr. Simon Scerri is a principal technical consultant at metaphacts GmBH. In his current role, he applies his 20 year experience working with knowledge graph-based interoperability solutions to bring the highest value to customers who discover metaphactory. Prior to joining metaphacts, Simon initially focused on academia, contributing to research efforts (2004–2013) at the University of Malta and the Irish Insight Centre for Data Analytics where he received a Ph.D. (National University of Ireland Galway, 2011). Gradually shifting focus to applied industrial settings, he was later responsible for the Enterprise Knowledge Graph competency area in Fraunhofer IAIS (2014-2020) in Bonn, Germany. In that role, he was also an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Big Data Value Association (2015-2020), where he led the European Data Sharing Spaces subgroup.
