Hype around emerging technology is accelerating, but firms often misjudge when value will materialize and where risk outweighs upside. Forrester’s CaDI framework explains benefit timing by weighing catalysts against the dependencies and inhibitors that create drag. We apply CaDI alongside Forrester’s Benefit Horizon Model, using examples like AI security and trust, physical AI and robotics, and quantum computing. This report provides a repeatable method to place technologies on the right benefit horizon and test ambitious use cases, such as humanoid robot caregiving, before committing significant investment.
