Earthquakes, tornadoes, monsoons, hurricanes, and other severe weather events have dominated the news for the past two to three years. As the human, financial, and ecological toll of these successive events increases, many business continuity, disaster recovery (BC/DR), and risk managers want to know if there are lessons learned from these events that can help them better prepare for future events. In this teleconference, we use the recent combination earthquake and tsunami in Japan to illustrate a series of lessons learned for risk managers around the world. We use the Japanese crisis as our example not because Japan was ill prepared -- in fact, emergency planners have long hailed Japan for its earthquake preparedness -- but because the scale and magnitude of the event gives us the opportunity to highlight a series of lessons that cover oversight, process, people, and technology. BC/DR and risk managers can apply these lessons to any risk scenario, whether it's extreme weather, a human-made event, or a pandemic.
Agenda:
- Overview of the events
- Ten key lessons learned in BC/DR
- Taking the lessons home: How prepared are you?
You'll receive an email with dialing and Webex instructions prior to the Webinar.
