In a new Forrester Retail Wave™, Forrester evaluated the mobile websites of 12 retailers in the US, including Amazon, Apple, Home Depot, and Nordstrom. The analysis shows quite a gap between leading brands and those that need improvement: The average score of brands ranked was only 58 out of 100, but the Leaders — Home Depot and Wayfair — performed much better, with scores of 76 and 71, respectively.

Contributing to its high ranking, Home Depot’s score specific to usability reached 87 out of 100, thanks to a mobile experience that delivers feature-rich search, product/category suggestions, and the recall of recent searches. On the other hand, many retailers failed to provide mobile checkout experiences that met customers’ expectations, with Forrester data revealing that median cart abandonment rates are stuck at 66%.
