We know Amazon, Facebook, and Google have a stake in the drone game, but isn’t it still hard to imagine an era where Prime shipments arrive via drone? According to a new Forrester report, this future is upon us — and firms must prepare for the disruption it will bring to business.
Drones will disrupt business in three primary ways: 1) The ability to collect new data to inform decisions; 2) speed distribution of products or services; and 3) lower the cost to capture aerial video content.
But despite the potential, we shouldn’t expect to see any drastic changes overhead for at least the next one to two years. In addition to the FAA roadblocks, there are significant technology challenges that lie in the weeds, like routing, autonomous flight, and collision detection.
