Just after X-mas there were a lot of tweets about the news that Amazon.com had sold more ebooks at Christmas day than real books, as a result of the Kindle being the most gifted item in Amazon’s history.

Recently we published a report on North American Physical And Digital Media Consumer Habits. Our Technographics Data shows how do different generations vary in their book purchasing and borrowing habits and how do men and women differ when it comes to where they buy magazines and where they read print media in general?

We found that while younger respondents (18 to 29) are the most likely of all age groups to borrow books from someone else, seniors (65+) are far more likely to shy away from purchasing books from online bookstores.

I’m curious to see how eBooks will change consumers’ book buying and borrowing behavior long term (see also The Data Digest on eReaders). What do you think?
