Claudeforce: The AI Interface Salesforce Never Built
Salesforce’s Claudeforce announcement ushers in a new era for CRM. This partnership establishes the technical and business connection to embed Sales Cloud data, workflows, and security controls directly into Claude Cowork through Salesforce-hosted MCP servers and plugins (with more Salesforce clouds promised in the future). Sales teams can now work directly within Claude Cowork instead of navigating Salesforce’s traditional seat-based UX. With this partnership, the foundations are in place to:
- Give sellers an interface that removes friction to get things done. Sellers use the packaged 37 Sales skills such as deal health, meeting prep, pipeline analysis directly from within Claude, bypassing Salesforce’s onerous screens, workflows and clicks that sellers often avoid using.
- Embed Salesforce security and governance controls into an AI interface. Claudeforce combines Claude’s reasoning capabilities with Salesforce’s Trust Layer, permissions, and business rules, enabling organizations to securely deploy AI experiences that can access data and take governed actions across Salesforce products.
- Extends Salesforce reach into broader enterprise networks. Through Headless 360 and MCP-based connectivity, Salesforce is positioning itself as a governed system of action that can be accessed by third-party AI agents. Sellers, for example can engage with Salesforce capabilities and other enterprise data while Salesforce continues to enforce security, permissions, and business rules behind the scenes.
This Sets A Pattern For Enterprise Applications’ Interface Future
We like this deal because it’s the first time a seller can finally break away from the CRM’s high-friction, pre-defined screens and workflows. With Claude Cowork, firms can build the tools to adapt to the way a seller works, assisting them with insights and actions during the flow of their day. To lay the groundwork for building your own Cowork workflows to empower sellers, tech execs should ask:
- What “assistive tasks” will most help your sellers? Salesforce has exposed 37 skills for different administrative capabilities. Which ones will empower your sellers? Account analysis? Lead scoring? Approach strategy? Communications? Those are safer because you’re keeping the seller in the position to act or not act – the proverbial human in the loop. No doubt, Salesforce will continue to introduce new assistive tasks aimed at other sales personas – Sales Development, Business Development and Customer Success.
- Do you have the pricing model dialed in for headless Salesforce? You are already paying for access to Sales Cloud and Data 360 in a combination of per-seat licenses and consumption. You will also need to add Anthropic Claude Cowork licenses, priced by consumption band. Because these products operate on fundamentally different pricing structures, you cannot purchase them today in a single contract.
- Are you ready for a surge in mystery costs from Anthropic and from Salesforce? You’ll have to start small and be disciplined to understand the real costs – and where the real value-add lies. Will the costs be more in Anthropic inferencing because you’ve fine-tuned the workflows to use more than Salesforce skills? Will it be in Salesforce MCP calls because you encourage wide experimentation by sellers within the Sales Cloud franchise? Set up and tune into the cost dashboard now while you can still optimize the skills you deploy.
- Is your Salesforce security model tuned and ready for complex reports and analysis? You may find you have new power users who tap into the enhanced insights they can get from the Sales Cloud data and start beating up on that MCP server, hoping to get access to data they currently shouldn’t be seeing. Because Claude Cowork will just keep hammering away at the MCP, be ready to shut down a query that just shouldn’t happen.
Recommendations
We have three recommendations for tech leaders and service providers:
- If you are in a regulated industry with compliance-driven selling motions, hold off for now. You may have fine-tuned your Sales Cloud workflows for compliance. Claude Cowork won’t be ready to adhere to them without more fine-tuning in the Claude skill and the Salesforce MCP calls.
- If you are a Salesforce service provider partner, jump in now with both feet. This is the future expansion of CRM – more engagement through the work surfaces that sellers actually use, more assistive actions, more insights in the hands of sellers that will allow them to sell faster, sell better and land more deals.
- If you are in marketing, customer service, or commerce: watch, listen, and learn. What assistive tasks could help you? That’s where these new AI interfaces will deliver the most power to occasional users. Start thinking about where AI can improve your operation with a Salesforce ingredient in the workflow.
