EA Is Key To Being Future Fit — Does Your Function Measure Up?
Successful tech organizations are future fit. They use adaptive, creative, and resilient capabilities to deliver customer-obsessed technology. An integral part of becoming future fit is empowering enterprise architecture (EA) teams with the right technologies and operating models. To that end, Forrester is kicking off its annual Global State Of Enterprise Architecture Survey for 2022, and we need your help!
What We Learned From Last Year’s Survey
Last year’s survey was the foundation for pivotal research throughout the year. Key findings from Forrester’s Q1 2021 Global State Of Enterprise Architecture Survey (full report available to Forrester clients) included:
- Modern EA focuses on the value it can deliver. EA leaders who focus on multiple EA archetypes (full report available to Forrester clients) struggle to demonstrate value because they are trying to be all things to all people. EA leaders can redefine their work through delegation and automation in EA-weak competencies, allowing them to focus on work that matches their own competencies. This kind of work will also require flexibility: To be adaptive, EA leaders should ignore traditional EA domains and focus on the delivery of specific EA services that deliver value to stakeholders.
- Agile firms use a different governance methodology. Successful EA leaders ensure effectiveness by embedding technology strategy and investment governance into existing corporate governance. Providing EA insights empowers business leaders to make and hold accountability for decisions, releasing the EA team from its perceived role as “the team of no.”
- EA teams are being replaced by EA ecosystems. An EA team’s value depends on the quality of insights it provides. Information for these insights comes from key stakeholders across the whole organization. Strong relationships built on trust ensure that EA stakeholders are provided with accurate, high-quality information.
- EA needs to be more collaborative. EA will become more aligned with stakeholders by collaboratively identifying the focus and orientation of EA and co-creating services. Customer and employee experience research has shown us that the quickest way to deliver value is to co-create services with the intended stakeholders.

Your participation will enable you to get early access to results and key findings from Forrester’s Global State Of Enterprise Architecture Survey for 2022! And as an added thank-you, you’ll be invited to a complimentary webinar at the completion of this research that will cover our discoveries.
You can access the survey here.
We will be collecting responses until Friday, February 18.
